To proclaim and embody the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The purpose of Harvest Ministries of the Pacific Conference of the Evangelical Church is to encourage and assist churches, pastors, and individuals within the conference to proclaim and embody the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We focus on three main areas.
The very last orders Jesus gave his followers was what we now call the Great Commission
which essentially tells his followers to proclaim the gospel. The word gospel means good news,
and the message of Jesus is good news to all of humanity. Because of Jesus there is salvation, hope and healing.
Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV) “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
2 Thessalonians 3:1 (NLT) “Pray that the Lord’s message will spread rapidly
and be honored wherever it goes, just as when it came to you.”
We not only proclaim the good news of the gospel, but we also embody the gospel. As followers of Jesus we are not only to tell people about Jesus, but we are to show the love of Jesus by bringing the good news to our world in practical ways. The gospel is not merely something you believe, it is being actively involved
in bringing God’s blessing to our communities and to our world.
Micah 6:8 (ESV) “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.”
Jeremiah 29:7 (NLT) “And work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile.
Pray to the LORD for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare.”
The Evangelical Church is an immigrant church. We started among German-speaking immigrants who were foreigners in a new country. America is a nation founded not on ethnicity, but on the idea of liberty and justice for all.
Harvest Ministries seeks partnerships with ethnic congregations within the Pacific Conference.
We welcome the newcomer to the Pacific Northwest because we were once the newcomer.
Deuteronomy 10:17-19 (NLT) “For the LORD your God is the God of gods and Lord of lords. He is the great God,
the mighty and awesome God, who shows no partiality and cannot be bribed. He ensures that orphans and widows receive justice. He shows love to the foreigners living among you and gives them food and clothing.
So you, too, must show love to foreigners, for you yourselves were once foreigners in the land of Egypt.”
